The Invoices page brings together what your WhatsApp messages cost you. To open it, click your team name in the workspace menu, then Settings > Invoices. What you see there depends on your billing model.
Old or new billing model
There are two models, depending on when your account was created:
| New model (Kanal billing) | Old model (Meta bills you directly) |
|---|---|---|
Accounts | Recent accounts | Older accounts |
Who pays Meta | Kanal pays Meta and bills you for each delivered message, deducted from your balance topped up by card | You pay Meta directly, with the payment method of your Meta account |
Invoices | Kanal invoices (top-ups), through the Access invoices button, which appears once your card is added | Meta invoices, in Meta's Billing Hub |
Tracking in Kanal | Yes: costs by category, AI messages, free message counter | No: Kanal does not keep track of your costs |
AI Agent replies | Billed 0.05 € per reply | Not billed by Kanal |
How to tell which one you are on: open Settings > Invoices. If the link sends you to Meta's Billing Hub, your account is on the old model. If the page shows your message costs and, once your card is added, the Access invoices button, you are on the new model. If in doubt, contact support through the in-app chat.
What the Invoices page shows (new model)
Cost by category
The page breaks down what your messages cost you, category by category (Marketing, Utility, Service). Each delivered message is billed at the rate of its country and category: see How much do WhatsApp conversations cost?.
The AI messages tab
The AI messages tab lists the replies sent by the AI Agent. Each one is billed 0.05 €, deducted from your balance. These replies are not covered by the 1,000 free service messages.
The 1,000 free messages counter
Since October 1, 2026, each WhatsApp number gets 1,000 free service messages per month (your free-form replies within the 24-hour window). The counter shows how many you have used this month. Beyond that, service messages are billed. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month.
Your invoices and your balance
The Access invoices button opens your billing portal, where you download your invoices and update your card: see Updating your billing and payment information. How top-ups work is described in Managing your billing threshold and Auto-refill.
The Plans page
Your subscription is managed on the Plans page:
Upgrading to a higher plan is self-serve, from this page.
Promo code: if you have one, enter it on this page before choosing your plan.
Lower plan: the page shows Downgrade unavailable. To downgrade, contact support through the in-app chat.
What each plan includes is detailed in What are the Kanal plans and what do they include?.
