Currency management and automatic revenue conversion

Kanal automatically converts your orders to euros for consistent statistics, including with several stores and currencies.

If you sell in several currencies (USD, GBP, ILS, etc.), Kanal automatically converts your order amounts to give you a clear, consolidated view of your WhatsApp performance.

How does currency conversion work?

To keep your metrics consistent, Kanal normalizes all amounts in euros (EUR):

  1. Official exchange rates: Kanal uses the Fixer.io API, a reference for exchange rates.

  2. Daily update: every night, Kanal retrieves the latest international exchange rates.

  3. Conversion at order time: as soon as an order is created on your store, Kanal identifies its original currency and converts the amount to euros at the rate of the day.

Why normalize data in EUR?

  • Multi-store consolidation: if you have a store in the United Kingdom (in GBP) and one in France (in EUR), Kanal adds up the converted amounts to show an accurate total revenue.

  • Reliable ROAS and average order value: these metrics rely on normalized amounts, so you can compare your markets without exchange-rate distortion.

  • Historical stability: the amount is fixed when the order is received. Later exchange-rate changes do not alter the revenue already recorded in Kanal.

Good to know

  • No display currency setting: all statistics (Home, campaigns, automations) are shown in euros. You cannot choose another display currency.

  • Unknown currency: if an order's currency is not recognized, the order is excluded from statistics.

  • Statistics only: the conversion is only used for your reporting. It has no effect on the amount actually paid by your customer on Shopify or charged by your bank.
