Connecting your Shopify catalog to your WhatsApp Business account is one of the most effective ways to boost your e-commerce sales. This feature turns your WhatsApp profile into a true interactive storefront, letting your customers discover, browse and share your products in a few taps.
Activating the catalog on WhatsApp gives your store strategic advantages:
Increased visibility: A "Shopping" cart icon appears right at the top of your WhatsApp profile and in your chat thread.
Showcase capacity: You can display up to 500 products synced in real time with your Shopify store.
Less friction: Customers browse your products, prices and descriptions without leaving the WhatsApp app.
Easy sharing: You can send product cards directly in your conversations (via the Kanal Inbox) or include them in your automations.
Before you start, make sure you have the following:
An active Shopify account.
A verified Meta Business Suite (Business Manager) account linked to your Facebook page.
The "Facebook & Instagram" sales channel installed on your Shopify store.
The process consists of linking your Shopify "Data Feed" to your WhatsApp Business account through Meta's Commerce Manager.
Go to business.facebook.com/settings. Make sure you have selected the correct Business Manager associated with your store.
In the sidebar, scroll down to the Data Sources section and click Catalogs.
If you already have a catalog synced with Shopify for your Facebook/Instagram ads, select it.
Otherwise, click Add > Create a catalog.
Choose the E-commerce type, then select Connect a partner platform (Shopify).
Follow the instructions to allow Meta to read your store's products.
Once the catalog is created and synced:
Go to Meta's Commerce Manager.
Open the Settings > Connected assets tab.
Click Add a WhatsApp account and select your business phone number.
WhatsApp caps the display at 500 products. If your Shopify store has more, we recommend creating a dedicated "Collection" in Shopify just for WhatsApp, grouping your best sellers or new arrivals, so the right products are always showcased.
Any change made in Shopify (price, stock, description) is automatically reflected on WhatsApp. Note that a slight delay (a few minutes to a few hours) may be needed for Meta to approve newly added products.
Meta reviews every product. Make sure you comply with the WhatsApp Commerce Policy: products related to tobacco, alcohol, medication or adult items will be systematically rejected and will not appear in your WhatsApp catalog.
Once your catalog is connected, you can make the most of it from the Kanal interface:
In the Inbox: Use the product share icon to instantly send a product card to a customer asking you a question.
In Automations: Suggest complementary products (cross-sell) after a purchase by sending the matching catalog card directly.
Expert tip: Use high-quality square (1:1) images for your catalog. It is the format that renders best on the WhatsApp mobile interface.
